Job summary

Crunchyroll is seeking a Principal-level, hands-on Director of Security reporting to the VP of Information Security. You will translate security goals into practical, secure systems and enable engineering teams to deliver securely at scale.

You will partner with engineering leaders to reduce friction, guide threat modeling, and drive cross-team alignment while building reference implementations and tooling integrations to accelerate secure delivery.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of progressive experience in information security, application security, cloud security, or software engineering with enterprise-scale initiatives.
• Principal-level technical leadership with influence across teams to ship secure solutions.
• Strong fundamentals in authn/authz, session security, API design, data protection, and secure SDLC.
• Pragmatic risk management with ability to balance security needs and business momentum.
• Cloud & platform security experience including IAM, secrets management, and logging/detection.
• DevSecOps mindset and experience integrating security checks into CI/CD with minimal friction.
• Vulnerability management depth: triage, remediation strategies, and cross-team coordination.
• Excellent, executive-ready communication and coaching for engineers.

Responsibilities

• Set direction for security at scale and drive adoption of secure-by-default patterns across services.
• Own engineering-facing mechanisms, playbooks, and tooling to make security durable in delivery.
• Coordinate vulnerability intake, triage, SLAs, remediation plans, and escalation.
• Integrate enterprise security tooling into CI/CD and production environments with evidence readiness.
• Embed threat modeling and secure architecture into engineering design and patterns.
• Partner with Global Security to translate policies into actionable engineering practices.
