Job summary

DICK'S Sporting Goods seeks a Director, Corporate Counsel - Product & Patents to lead patent clearance and IP strategy across product lines. You will review freedom-to-operate, prior art, and patentability, manage the patent portfolio, and supervise outside patent counsel while advising cross‑functional teams through development and launch cycles.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years IP experience, strong business communication, and a technical fluency to translate complex issues into actionable

Qualifications

• Three to five years of patent and IP experience
• Hands-on patent searches and clearance analyses
• Experience drafting clearance opinions and managing outside counsel

Responsibilities

• Lead patent/IP clearance for new products
• Draft design and utility patent applications
• Manage patent portfolio and prosecution strategy
• Advise product/engineering teams on IP matters
• Provide guidance on AI, data governance, privacy and software issues
• Develop scalable IP guidance for product teams
• Collaborate with Legal on IP, Privacy, Brand and Regulatory matters
• Provide landscape and competitive intelligence for IP strategy
