Job summary

Western Union is seeking a high-caliber attorney with experience in payments regulation and technology to join our Product Legal team in the United States. This role partners with product leaders to guide the development and updates of Western Union's product offerings.

You will provide strategic legal and regulatory support for global initiatives, negotiate partner agreements, monitor evolving laws, and advise on product risk and disclosures.

Qualifications

• 6-8+ years of experience, in-house or law firm, with at least 3 years in payments/FinTech/digital assets.
• Experience negotiating complex commercial deals in tech or financial services.
• Ability to provide concise, business-focused legal advice on payments laws and consumer protections.
• Ability to guide product design and disclosures for legal compliance.
• Experience launching e-money, wallets, ecosystems or digital assets a plus.
• Ability to identify product risks and develop mitigation strategies.
• Thrives in a fast-paced environment with ownership of projects.
• Comfortable with gray areas and unsettled legal contexts.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal oversight for Western Union business units and services to deliver strategic priorities.
• Lead strategic legal and regulatory support for global initiatives and products.
• Coordinate cross-functionally to deliver timely legal advice.
• Review, draft and negotiate agreements with strategic partners.
• Advise business partners and coordinate with outside counsel.
• Research, analyze and monitor new and existing laws.
• Stay ahead of regulatory changes and advise senior leadership.
• Review product requirements for compliance and disclosures.
• Drive end-to-end customer value with a customer-first focus.
• May manage one or more legal professionals.
