What You'll Do
Leadership of the Pricing Specialist Team
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of pricing specialists responsible for quoting, RFP response, and day-to-day pricing support.
- Set clear expectations, service levels, and quality standards for quote and RFP turnaround, balancing responsiveness with pricing rigor.
- Manage team workload, prioritization, and capacity against fluctuating commercial demand; build depth and cross-coverage.
- Build individual development plans and grow the team’s analytical, commercial, and stakeholder-management capabilities.
- Serve as the escalation point for complex, high-stakes, or non-standard pricing and RFP situations.
Strategic Partnership & Pricing Transformation
- Partner with the Vice President, Pricing to shape pricing strategy, segmentation, and the multi-year transformation agenda.
- Translate strategic direction into a sequenced, executable roadmap with clear owners, milestones, and measures of success.
- Bring an informed point of view to the leadership table — challenge assumptions, surface trade-offs, and recommend a path forward.
Pricing Governance & Process Discipline
- Own the assessment of current pricing processes, tools, and data; identify gaps with a critical eye and prioritize by business impact.
- Design and implement practical, repeatable pricing processes that raise rigor without adding friction, bureaucracy, or cycle time.
- Establish and maintain pricing standards, approval thresholds, delegation of authority, and escalation paths.
- Drive adoption through clear communication, training, and follow-through with the commercial team.
Margin & Commercial Performance
- Drive pricing actions that optimize price and margin across products, customers, and segments in partnership with commercial leaders.
- Monitor vendor price changes and commodity cost movement; lead timely, well-supported price adjustments to protect margin.
- Lead margin management in partnership with Sales, creating visibility and constructive tension around price and profitability.
- Report pricing process performance, insights, and risks to VP on a regular cadence.
Cross-Functional Influence & Capability Building
- Build and sustain strong working relationships with Sales, Finance, Marketing, Operations, and Customer Service leadership.
- Lead cross-functional pricing discussions and drive alignment on trade-offs where interests differ and authority is shared.
- Build the organization’s pricing literacy — make pricing concepts accessible and equip commercial teams to apply them independently.
- Identify opportunities to improve pricing execution through better tools, data, or automation, with an emphasis on usability and adoption.
