Job summary

HarbourVest Partners is seeking a Director of Platform Engineering to define cohesive platform architecture and lead modernization initiatives across the firm. You will partner with engineering, product, data, and security stakeholders to enable scale, resilience, and growth.

The role requires deep expertise in microservices, cloud-native patterns, and DevOps practices. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with modern app build, micro-frontends, and event-driven design, and a proven

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a technology-related field; advanced degree preferred.
10+ years of management, software engineering, cloud platforms, and modernization experience.
Experience with modern architecture patterns: distributed services, component-based frontends, API integration.

Responsibilities

Set technical direction for platform engineering.
Guide modernization projects toward microservices, event-driven systems, and micro-frontend experiences.
Drive standardization by defining shared frameworks and services.
Provide hands-on mentorship for modern web systems (Angular, React, TypeScript, Node.js).
Mentor senior engineers and promote engineering excellence and modernization.
Support additional critical initiatives as needed.
