Job summary

Quest Diagnostics WHS Engineering seeks a Director of Engineering to own the architecture, execution, and team structure for a scaling platform. You will lead modernization from legacy systems to a cloud-native client-facing platform, collaborating with Product, Architecture, and Enterprise Tech, and guiding both managers and ICs through modern engineering practices.

The role emphasizes strategic execution, budget ownership, and the ability to present technology roadmaps to executive sponsors

Qualifications

• 10-15+ years of software engineering and technical leadership experience.
• Strong background in the Microsoft (.NET) development ecosystem, modern JavaScript frameworks (React preferred), and relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred).
• Experience managing other people leaders (Engineering Managers).
• Hands-on experience delivering enterprise-grade, cloud-native applications (Azure preferred).
• Deep expertise running agile teams, optimizing sprint cadences, and managing complex software product lifecycles.
• Exceptional written and oral communication skills to bridge technical solutions to executive business strategies.

Responsibilities

• Own the execution, deployment, and ongoing feature development of flagship client-facing application suite.
• Drive legacy-to-cloud migration roadmap with minimal business disruption.
• Collaborate with Product, Business, Architecture, and Enterprise Tech to shape product definitions and technical requirements.
• Manage engineering budget, software asset lifecycles, operational risks, and SLAs.
