AbbVie seeks a senior commercial leader to drive the overall strategy for PCS oncology assets. You will partner with R&D, in-line commercial teams in the US, and international regions to plan commercialization and deliver successful global launches within the oncology portfolio.

The role requires a deep background in pharmaceutical marketing and strong leadership to guide cross-functional teams, manage complex stakeholder networks, and shape high-impact strategies across geographies and product

Qualifications

  • 10-15+ years in pharma with progressive commercial leadership in marketing and/or sales.
  • Oncology Prostate experience required.
  • Global experience preferred.
  • Ability to influence and manage multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong strategic marketing and financial acumen with P&L understanding.
  • Executive presence and leadership in a matrixed org.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead organizational change.
  • Outstanding partnering skills to drive cross-functional decisions.
  • Proven track record in talent development and coaching.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, champion and communicate vision and strategy to stakeholders for portfolio prioritization and BD investments.
  • Understand market drivers and revenue potential to inform portfolio value proposition and investment thesis.
  • Co-lead tumor disease strategy for development of assets within the franchise.
  • Define and drive strategic value creation across lifecycle with R&D and commercial partners.
  • Partner with Medical Affairs and Global teams to support labels and claims.
  • Identify new value opportunities and accelerators for commercialization.
  • Lead geo-strategy and indication prioritization with R&D and affiliates on access strategies.
  • Exhibit leadership to drive timely, effective decision making.
  • Broaden AbbVie’s Oncology network with academic, payer, and patient advocate relationships.
  • Mentor and coach teams to achieve business goals.

This leadership position is accountable for delivering overall commercial strategy of the
PCS oncology assets, by partnering closely with R&D, in-line commercial in US,
international region, and countries, and other key stakeholders to plan for the
commercialization of assets in the Oncology pipeline, thereby delivering successful global
product launches within the portfolio in oncology.

Responsibilities
  • Develop, champion and communicate vision and overall compelling strategy to all
    related stakeholder groups gaining commitment and support to guide portfolio
    prioritization, asset strategies and BD investments.
  • Understand market, key segment value drivers, growth opportunities, target product
    profiles, product positioning and revenue potential for multiple clinical-stage
    assets/indications within the franchise to drive winning portfolio value proposition
    plans and strong P&L investment thesis
  • (Co)-lead tumor disease are strategy teams for development of multiple assets
    within same tumor, when applicable – with enterprise and portfolio mindset
  • Defines and drives strategic value creation across lifecycle together with R&D and
    commercial cross-functional partners, integrating diverse internal and external
    perspectives
  • Partner with Global Medical Affairs, Pharma Development, and Commercial Cross functional leaders to develop scientific platforms and drive data generation to
    satisfy Global and Area requirements for target product labels and target product
    claims.
  • Identify new value generation for the franchise to unlock further opportunity. Drive
    innovative and novel ways to accelerate commercialization, and maximize value for
    patients and the company for the franchise
  • Drive prioritization of key leverage points in the treatment process and develop
    behavioral objectives for each stakeholder group to define commercial strategy for
    the assets and for the entire franchise
  • Effective and transparent risk, opportunity and issue management at strategic and
    operational levels across the franchise
  • Initiate geo-strategy and indication prioritization within the franchise in partnership
    with R&D, Commercial cross-functional leaders, and Affiliates on formulating
    optimal reimbursement and access strategies to fully realize value of multiple
    assets.
  • Exhibit clear and courageous leadership behavior and implements optimal program
    structures where appropriate to drive timely and effective decision making
  • Broaden AbbVie’s Oncology network and presence by building scientific, academic,
    KOL, payer, and patient advocacy relationships.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (MBA, Ph.D, or MD) preferred
  • 10-15+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry in progressive
    commercial leadership roles in marketing and/or sales. Successful launch experienced preferred.
  • Oncology Prostate experience required.
  • Global experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and manage a complex set of internal and
    external stakeholders.
  • Strong strategic marketing skills including the ability to develop commercial
    strategies based on a thorough and structured approach, pared with a strong
    scientific/clinical understanding.
  • Strong financial and commercial acumen with thorough understanding of P&L
    drivers and the ability to develop appropriate investment and top-line sales forecasts that generate long-term value.
  • Strong executive presence and leadership skills are imperative as this leader will present to senior leaders on a regular basis and serve as a role model in the organization.
  • Demonstrated and consistent experience in successfully leading organizational change.
  • Outstanding partnering skills and the ability to lead a multi-disciplinary team and drive commercial decisions in a highly matrixed organization to accomplish business goals.
  • Proven track record of successful leadership, management and coaching of teams and individuals, and in having developed talent.
