Responsibilities

The Director Physician Operations provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for multiple divisions within the INTEGRIS Health Medical Group (IHMG) and/or Hospital Outpatient Department Clinics, including Primary Care, Specialty, Hospitalists, Corporate Services, and Managed services. This role is responsible for driving operational excellence, financial performance, practice growth, and patient experience across assigned regions and service lines.

The Director leads a team of Managers of Clinic Operations, ensuring alignment with INTEGRIS Health’s mission, vision, and values while executing strategic plans and performance objectives.

• Provides oversight of day-to-day operations across multiple divisions and clinic sites, ensuring efficient, standardized, and high-performing practice operations.
• Translates organizational strategy into operational plans, ensuring alignment with INTEGRIS Health goals.
• Partners with physicians and administrative leadership to establish and achieve operational, quality, and patient experience targets.
• Leads implementation of key initiatives including practice start-ups, acquisitions, and integration of new service lines or providers.
• Directly supervises Manager of Clinic Operations; provides coaching, development, and performance management.
• Ensures effective management of clinic practice managers and staff through direct and indirect leadership.
• Oversees workforce planning, recruitment support, onboarding, and retention strategies for clinic leadership and staff.
• Fosters a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement across all teams.
• Develops and oversees divisional budgets, ensuring fiscal accountability and achievement of financial targets.
• Monitors financial performance including revenue cycle metrics, cost management, and physician compensation alignment with INTEGRIS Health benchmarks.
• Leads development and execution of annual business plans for multiple clinics and service lines.
• Identifies operational and financial improvement opportunities and drives corrective action plans.
• Establishes and monitors performance metrics for clinic operations, including patient satisfaction, access, throughput, and efficiency.
• Oversees implementation of site-specific performance goals and improvement initiatives.
• Recommends and supports facility improvements, including new construction, renovations, and equipment procurement.
• Ensures effective front-line operations through leadership of Managers of Clinic Operations.
• Leads development of new clinic sites, service lines, and physician start-ups; including operational planning, staffing, budgeting, and infrastructure coordination.
• Supports physician and APP recruitment, onboarding, and manpower planning across divisions.
• Facilitates integration and transition of new acquired practices.
• Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and regulatory requirements, including The Joint Commission (TJC) standards as applicable.
• Maintains confidentiality and ensures appropriate handling of sensitive operational and physician-related information.
• Ensures adherence to National Patient Safety Goals and organizational policies.
• Serves as a key liaison between clinic operations, physician leadership, hospital leadership, and system departments (HR, Finance, IT, Revenue Cycle, etc.).
• Participates in enterprise-wide committees and initiatives to support organizational priorities.
• Provides regular updates and reporting on operational, financial, and strategic performance.
• Supports effective use of EMR and practice management systems to drive operational efficiency.
• Partners with IT and operational teams to optimize workflows, reporting, and system utilization.
• Serves as a resource to managers and physician leadership to complex operational, financial, and human resource issues.
• Leads resolution of escalated challenges across clinics and divisions.
• Serves as the primary operational liaison to community and hospital leadership teams within assigned markets, ensuring alignment between IHMG operations and local hospital/community priorities.
• Actively participates in community leadership meetings, including hospital executive councils, operational leadership teams, and market-based strategy sessions.
• Collaborates with hospital administrators, service line leaders, and community executives to align ambulatory operations with inpatient, emergency, and specialty care strategies.
• Partners with community leadership to identify growth opportunities, address access challenges, and optimize care delivery across the continuum.
• Supports development and execution of market-specific strategic plans, ensuring alignment with system-wide initiatives and financial goals (e.g., growth, access, quality, safety, and EBIDA performance).
• Provides regular updates to community leadership on clinic performance, provider productivity, patient experience, and key operational metrics.
• Works collaboratively with community stakeholders to resolve operational challenges impacting patient flow, access to care, and physician alignment.
• Ensures physician enterprise representation in community initiatives, fostering strong engagement between providers and hospital leadership.
• Achieve pillar KPI targets.

Ex Exposed to frequent and constant interruptions in daily functions/schedule. Must be available to customers and staff throughout the day. Must meet strict deadlines. Exposed to weather conditions when traveling. Required to work extended hours to meet deadlines and to participate in various assigned committees.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in healthcare administration or related business field or ability to achieve within 12 months of hire and 4 years of progressive management experience in a healthcare environment.
• Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration or related business field and six years of progressive management experience in a healthcare environment.
• Experience in a clinical setting preferred.
• Must be able to communicate effectively in English (Verbal/Written).
