Job summary

ALSAC is seeking a Director of Philanthropy to lead development, planning, and execution of major and principal gifts and planned giving. This role builds strong internal and external relationships, advances organizational goals, and ensures key objectives are met for ALSAC and St. Jude.

The position involves strategic leadership, team mentoring, and overseeing donor portfolios. The candidate should have a proven track record in major gifts, bequest/planned giving, and at least 8+ years of

Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge and successful track record soliciting and stewarding 6 & 7 figure gifts within major gifts and bequest/planned giving.
• Thorough knowledge of bequest/planned-giving within the non-profit sector.
• Strong grasp of general management methods.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for internal and external relations.
• Ability to understand complex verbal and written instructions.
• Familiarity with data processing applications.
• 8+ years of relevant experience.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategies to ensure ALSAC meets its critical goals and supports overall business objectives efficiently and effectively.
• Lead, mentor, and coach a team of professionals, providing guidance on goals, professional development, performance expectations, and metrics of success.
• Responsible for managing a portfolio of principal gift donors through identification, discovery, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship.
• Establish and enforce policies and procedures to enhance organizational effectiveness while operating within budgetary parameters. Proactively address issues and develop problem-solving skills among team members.
• Maintain awareness of fundraising programs and hospital initiatives, actively seek ways to enhance individual giving revenue, and stay current with industry trends.
• Review and evaluate monthly progress of revenue, identifying areas that require attention, and provide this information to staff. Complete and review reports, travel expenses, donor visit reports, and proposals.
• Foster positive relationships with third-party organizations and volunteers in the assigned area, representing ALSAC-St. Jude's in a manner that reflects positively on the organization.

Job Description

As the Director of Philanthropy, you will be responsible for managing the development, planning, and implementation of all major and principal gifts and planned giving. This position is eligible for a hybrid schedule to include working from our Territory Office located at 954954 W. Washington Blvd Suite 500 Chicago, IL 60607.
