Summary

GainwellRx is our solution and business platform to support states and Medicaid members across the country for prescription drug related business processes and member experiences. The Director, Pharmacy Program Strategy will serve a key role within the pharmacy business, interfacing with all leaders of the executive leadership team, State Sector Leaders, Account General Managers, and industry vendors/partners. The role directly supports Gainwell’s pharmacy growth strategies, opportunity pipeline, projections, state strategies, and financial performance.

The Director, Pharmacy Programs is a strategic thinker who analyzes market trends, customer needs, and the competitive landscape to develop effective product and program strategies. They work closely with market, sales, operations, and product teams to ensure that new programs and solutions meet customer needs, regulatory requirements, and corporate goals. The role has overall responsibility for pharmacy program development, design, execution, and performance, with direct oversight of teams involved in managing Pharmacy programs.

Your role in our mission
  • Partners with Pharmacy executive team to drive business strategy and development through insights and analysis.
  • Overall responsibility for Pharmacy program design, development, execution, and performance.
  • Conducts market surveillance to understand demands and client pain points, ensuring a robust and competitive offering of Pharmacy programs, services, and solutions.
  • Provides analysis of financial performance, growth forecasts, pipeline projections, and value modeling for new solutions.
  • Collaborates with VP of Growth, State Sector Leaders, and Account General Managers on bid pipeline analysis and state strategy development.
  • Supports state needs through RFP and bid proposals in support of the Pharmacy Center of Excellence.
  • Aligns proposal requirements with business execution plans.
  • Manages and optimizes vendor contracts.
  • Drives key initiatives supporting strategy, growth, and business development.
  • Reports on the status of initiatives and aligns resources for delivery.
  • Assists in developing growth plans and market strategies for the executive team.
  • Prepares strategy materials and presentations.
  • Supports analysis for business development projects and key initiatives.
  • Supports Pharmacy segment P&L management and Rx cost optimization strategies.
  • Delivers analysis and supports business cases for new investments.
  • Leads industry relations and partnerships for GainwellRx.
  • Serves as an industry expert, interfacing with clients, vendors, and partners.
  • Collaborates across teams and drives new ideas and concepts.
What we’re looking for
  • Advanced degree or significant related experience.
  • 10+ years of pharmacy-related experience.
  • Skills in strategic planning, communication, and financial analysis.
  • Experience interacting with healthcare clients.
  • Proven leadership in cross-functional teams and projects.
  • Excellent communication skills, including with senior executives.
  • Innovative thinker with strong leadership abilities.
What you should expect in this role
  • This position is 100% remote, with approximately 20% travel.

  • Salary range: $137,100 - $195,800 annually, varies by region and experience.
