Job summary

Raleigh General Hospital is hiring a Pharmacy Director to lead the pharmacy department and ensure high-quality, compliant patient care. The role focuses on strategic direction, budgeting, and cross-disciplinary collaboration.

The successful candidate will oversee departmental operations, implement evidence-based practices, and drive professional growth within a mission-driven health system.

Qualifications

• Doctorate degree preferred; applicable work experience may be used in lieu of education
• BLS certification within 30 days of hire
• At least 1 year of leadership experience preferred
• Ability to lead, solve problems and manage stress; work well with nursing, medical staff and administration

Responsibilities

• Develops and implements departmental goals, plans, and standards
• Directs and evaluates department operations including patient care delivery and budgeting
• Plans staffing, hiring, orientation, evaluation, and continuing education
• Prepares and monitors departmental budgets and audits
• Fosters professional growth and evidence-based practice
• Ensures regular attendance and performs other duties as assigned

How You'll Contribute

A Pharmacy Director who excels in this role:

• To perform this job, an individual must perform each essential function satisfactorily with or without a reasonable accommodation.
• Develops and implements departmental goals, plans, and standards consistent with the clinical, administrative, legal, and ethical requirements/objectives of the organization.
• Directs and evaluates departmental operations, including patient care delivery, information technologies, service level determination, and complaint management, to achieve performance and quality control objectives.
• Plans and monitors staffing activities, including hiring, orienting, evaluating, disciplinary actions, and continuing education initiatives.
• Prepares, monitors, and evaluates departmental budgets, and ensures that the department operates in compliance with allocated funding. Coordinates and directs internal/external audits.
• Creates and fosters an environment that encourages professional growth.
• Integrates evidence-based practices into operations and clinical protocols.
• Regular and reliable attendance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For

• Education: Doctorate Degree in related field preferred; Applicable work experience may be used in lieu of education
• Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) to be obtained within 30 days of hire
• Experience: One year of experience preferred.
• Required Skills: Familiarity with organization and functions of each hospital department Leadership ability, integrity, and initiative required. Ability to solve problems effectively and handle stress in a positive manner. Maintain harmonious relationships with nursing personnel, medical staff, hospital administration, and all hospital department.
