Job summary

The Humane Rescue Alliance is seeking a Director of Human Resources to serve as a strategic and operational leader across all core HR functions. The role includes employee relations, compliance, recruitment, compensation and benefits, performance management, and development initiatives to strengthen manager capability and staff growth.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws and HR best practices.
• Proven track record of driving process automation and efficiency.
• Deep analytical mindset with experience leveraging people data for strategic decisions.
• Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
• Able to collaborate across departments and manage confidential matters with integrity.
• Interest in and understanding of animal welfare.

Responsibilities

• Strategically lead HR functions including employee relations, compliance, recruitment, compensation, benefits and performance management.
• Develop and implement foundational learning and development initiatives for managers and staff.
• Establish governance and operational excellence across HR, ensuring compliance.
• Forecast workforce needs and manage HR department budget.
• Supervise HR team members and drive organizational effectiveness.
