Job summary

Addison Group is seeking a Director of Payroll & Business Process Transformation to modernize critical operations across Finance and HR, starting with payroll, using Workday, automation, and AI to improve accuracy, compliance, and efficiency.

The role requires hands-on design, implementation, and accountability for long-term performance, with collaboration across Finance, HR, Technology, and executive leadership.

Qualifications

• Led an end-to-end business-process transformation, not just participation.
• Owned a critical operational function while redesigning it without disruption.
• Hands-on experience using AI, automation, or AI agents in Finance/HR/payroll workflows.
• Deep Experience with Workday or comparable enterprise platform and understanding of configurations, integrations, and data.

Responsibilities

• Lead the payroll team to ensure accurate, timely payroll processing.
• Maintain payroll controls, tax compliance, audit readiness, and operational continuity during transformation.
• Evaluate current payroll operations, including undocumented processes and manual workarounds.
• Design and implement a future-state payroll operating model leveraging Workday, automation, and AI.
• Determine activities to be completed via Workday, automation, AI agents, or employee judgment.
• Partner with Technology to design, build, test, pilot, and implement new solutions.
• Collaborate on Workday configurations, workflows, integrations, and data requirements.
• Ensure redesigned processes are embedded in enterprise systems and not just added on top.
• Maintain uninterrupted payroll operations during changes.
