Job summary

Beam Therapeutics seeks a Director, Patient Services to lead the patient services strategy for risto-cel, Beam’s lead asset for sickle cell disease. You will design programs, manage execution, and partner with Brand, Field Market Access, and Patient Operations to optimize access and adherence.

Onsite 1–3 days/week with ~25% travel, the role requires extensive pharma experience in patient services and regulatory know-how.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.
• 10+ years in pharmaceutical/biotech with 8+ years in Patient Services, including field/strategy roles.
• Experience in billing & coding guides.
• Experience in designing patient services strategies (financial assistance, travel & lodging, etc.).
• Familiar with Anti-Kickback Statute regulations and OIG opinions.
• Buy & bill and rare disease experience; cell/gene therapy preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead patient services for risto-cel, including program design, operational planning, launch readiness, and execution.
• Develop practical patient support and reimbursement solutions aligning with brand strategy.
• Partner with Brand, Account Management, Field Market Access, Patient Advocacy, and Patient Operations.
• Use data/analytics to monitor program performance and identify access barriers; recommend improvements.
• Collaborate with Senior Director, Trade & Distribution to manage Hub and patient services programs.
• Ensure programs comply with legal, regulatory, privacy, quality, pharmacovigilance, and internal policy requirements.

Position Overview:

Beam is looking for a Director, Patient Services, to join our growing Market Access team. The Director, Patient Services will lead development and execution of the patient services strategy for risto-cel, Beam’s lead asset in development for sickle cell disease.

Responsibilities:

• Lead patient services for risto-cel, including program design, operational planning, launch readiness, and execution.
• Develop practical patient support and reimbursement solutions that support brand strategy and overcome access barriers.
• Partner with Brand, Account Management, Field Market Access, Patient Advocacy, and Patient Operations to execute the Patient Services strategy.
• Use data and analytics to monitor program performance, identify access and adherence barriers, evaluate cost and service trends, and recommend enhancements that improve patient and provider experience.
• Partner with Senior Director, Trade & Distribution to manage Hub and patient services programs.
• Ensure programs operate in alignment with applicable legal, regulatory, privacy, quality, pharmacovigilance, compliance, and internal policy requirements.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred with 15+ years of relevant experience.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry with 8+ years in Patient Services, including field and / or strategy roles.
• Experience in developing billing & coding guides.
• Experience in developing patient services strategies, including design of key program elements (e.g., financial assistance programs, travel & lodging, etc.)
• Experience in evaluating, researching, and securing OIG opinions and deep understanding of Anti-Kickback Statue regulations.
• Skills in Treatment Center engagement, education, and training
• Buy & bill and rare disease experience required; Experience in cell or gene therapy preferred.
• Experience working with cross-functional field teams.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
• Proficiency with CRM systems, PowerPoint, and Excel.
• Willingness to travel approximately 25% of the time/as needed
• Onsite requirements: Candidates are expected to come onsite 1-3 days per week
