Job summary

Catholic Health is seeking a Director of Risk Management to lead our comprehensive risk program and patient-safety initiatives across Long Island’s health system. The role requires 5+ years in acute care nursing with risk-management and regulatory expertise, plus a valid clinical credential.

The position emphasizes evidence-based practice, privacy governance, and collaboration with executive leadership to mitigate institutional risk and improve outcomes.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a relevant field; CPHRM highly preferred.
• Valid RN, PA, or other licensed clinical professional credential required.
• 5+ years of acute care hospital nursing experience; healthcare risk management and regulatory experience preferred.
• Experience with The Joint Commission (TJC) and Department of Health regulations; ability to draft official responses to Statements of Deficiencies.
• Proven track record coordinating Root Cause Analyses (RCA) and complex clinical investigations.

Responsibilities

• Implement and maintain comprehensive risk-reduction initiatives and evidence-based safety strategies across the entity.
• Coordinate thorough investigations and RCA for adverse events and safety incidents.
• Manage regulatory communications with The Joint Commission and Department of Health, including drafting formal responses to deficiencies.
• Enter occurrence reports and claims notifications into tracking systems in a timely manner.
• Serve as privacy officer and assist with privacy training and initiatives.
• Coordinate workers' compensation cases and attend claims meetings to develop health-program strategies.
• Participate in credentials review processes and hospital on-call rotations.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
