Job summary

The Aerospace Corporation is seeking a strategic Director to lead the Parts, Materials, and Processes (PMP) Department in El Segundo, CA. You’ll shape technical strategy, drive reliability, and serve as a trusted advisor to DoD, IC, NASA, and civil space customers.

You will recruit and develop top engineers, advance lab capabilities, and ensure mission success with a focus on supplier qualification, COTS insertion, and obsolescence management.

Qualifications

• Degree from an accredited university in engineering, materials science, physics, chemistry, or a related discipline.
• Ten+ years of applicable experience in parts, materials, and processes engineering for aerospace or space systems.
• Demonstrated technical ability in EEE parts engineering/qualification, COTS parts insertion strategies, and failure analysis.
• Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams and developing top engineering talent.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to influence technical organizations and present to senior government leaders.
• Experience in new business development and customer relationship management.
• Willing to travel domestically up to 10% and ability to obtain Top Secret/SCI clearance.

Responsibilities

• Shape and lead the PM&P technical strategy for DoD, IC, and civil space programs.
• Build a forward-looking department strategy addressing supply chain resilience and obsolescence.
• Grow technical capabilities in GaN, advanced packaging, and counterfeit detection.
• Advise senior leaders on policy and technical standards for PM&P.
• Advance the Electronics Components Lab's capabilities and partnerships.
• Collaborate across Aerospace to deliver high-impact solutions.
• Lead cross-functional teams through investigations and qualification campaigns.
• Represent Aerospace on industry committees and expand our influence.
• Guide organizational excellence through reliable quality, schedule, and cost practices.
• Identify new business opportunities and manage department operations for growth.
• Recruit, retain, and develop top engineering talent and foster an innovative culture.
• Lead critical investigations with technical rigor when needed.
