Job summary

The Aerospace Corporation in El Segundo, CA seeks a Parts, Materials, and Processes Engineer with PMP management expertise. The role involves supporting PM&P program management across life cycles, ensuring compliance and cost-quality balance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in materials science, electrical engineering, physics, or another appropriate discipline.
  • Eight or more years of demonstrated growth and proficiency in PMP Management and applicable requirements and standards (NASA and/or national security space).
  • Excellent record of customer communication and interaction.
  • Willingness to travel approx. 25% domestically/internationally.
  • Ability to obtain/maintain a secret clearance (US citizenship required to obtain security clearance).
  • Twelve or more years of progressively responsible technical experience for Senior Engineering Specialist.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership in electronics PM&P.

Responsibilities

  • Support PM&P program management functions across the life cycle, addressing availability, logistics, DMSMS, and legacy issues.
  • Collaborate with industry colleagues and suppliers to create guidance on selection, screening, qualification, and root cause analysis.
  • Act as organization’s representative at technical meetings, presentations, and workshops.
  • Mentor less experienced staff and lead cross-organizational teams as required.

PMPD is seeking a Parts, Materials, and Processes Engineer with proficiency in PM&P management.

The candidate will support customer across the corporation’s portfolio. The selected candidate will be required to work full time on-site at our facility at El Segundo, CA

What You’ll Be Doing

Supporting PM&P program management functions – i.e., considering the application, standardization, technology (new and aging), system reliability, maintainability, supportability, and cost in designing or selecting PM&P and addressing availability, logistics support, Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages (DMSMS), and legacy issues in supporting them throughout the life of the systems Validating PM&P selection, screening/testing, qualification based on requirements/specifications, verification of program approved PM&P lists, ensuring regulatory compliance, and optimizing the bill of materials (BOM) to balance cost and quality. May lead cross-organizational teams and organize interfaces within department Collaborate with industry colleagues, and component supplier personnel to create/maintain guidance and requirements related to selection, screening, qualification, and root cause failure analysis Act as organization’s designated representative at technical meetings, presentation, and workshops May mentor less experienced staff – as required – and serve as role model

What You Need to be Successful – Engineering Specialist Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in materials science, electrical engineering, physics, or another appropriate discipline
  • Eight or more years of demonstrated growth and proficiency in PMP Management and applicable requirements and standards (NASA and/or national security space)
  • Excellent record of customer communication and interaction
  • Willingness to travel [domestically/internationally] approx. 25% averaged over time
  • Ability to obtain/maintain a secret clearance (US citizenship required to obtain security clearance)
In addition to the above, the minimum requirements for Senior Engineering Specialist
  • Twelve or more years of progressively responsible technical experience
  • Demonstrated technical leadership, such as leading project teams, mentoring early-career engineers, or developing technical strategy
  • Subject matter expert knowledge in one or more areas of electronics PM&P
How You Can Stand Out

It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:

  • Advanced degree from an accredited university in materials science, electrical engineering, physics, or another appropriate discipline
  • Demonstrated ability to assess non-MIL PRF parts and develop appropriate methods for use in space and related high-reliability applications
  • Hold an active TS/SSBI security clearance
  • Proficiency in common root cause analysis tools during problem resolution
  • Experience collaborating with contractors, industry working groups, and/or associations such as NASA Electronics Parts Assurance Group, Defense Logistics Agency, Joint Electron Device Engineering Council, Automotive Electronics Council, during the evaluation, selection, and adaptation of active electronic parts for space-related applications] Possess project management skills in applications such as MS Project, Jira, etc.

Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills. (Min - Max) $129,000.00 - $249,600.00 Pay Basis: Annual
