Job summary

Daily Mail US is seeking a Deputy Head, Original Video to oversee a flexible, cross-functional team of Video Journalists supporting Daily Mail’s original video slate. You will identify, develop, and evaluate concepts with potential for repeatable formats and long-term franchises across the video portfolio.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in video production, digital media, journalism, or a related field.
• Proven experience overseeing recurring series, explainers, or original video initiatives.
• 3+ years of management experience leading Video Journalists, producers, editors, or cross-functional teams.
• Strong editorial judgment and storytelling instincts for news, explainers, or social-first video.
• Experience managing multiple projects in a fast-paced, 24/7 news environment.
• Ability to balance hands-on production with long-term operational planning.
• Strong understanding of digital video audiences and engagement across social platforms.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a cross-functional team of Video Journalists supporting Daily Mail’s original video slate.
• Allocate production resources across stories and series based on news priorities and team capacity.
• Establish clear expectations for direct reports and provide regular feedback and development.
• Foster a collaborative culture with flexibility, creativity, accountability, and operational excellence.
• Oversee execution across formats, explainers, and premium projects across editorial verticals.
• Partner with Head of Video, editors, reporters, and newsroom stakeholders to deliver timely, high-quality projects.
• Provide editorial guidance on scripts, story structure, visual execution, and final delivery.
• Step into productions to support launches, priority initiatives, or staffing gaps.
• Identify opportunities to scale concepts into repeatable formats and franchises.
• Uphold copyright, legal, ethical, and editorial standards across all output.
