Job summary

American Water is recruiting a Director to lead the company-wide operational training strategy for water and wastewater systems. You will oversee a team of trainers/SMEs, translating performance gaps into scalable learning solutions across treatment, distribution, collection and field services.

You will partner with State Operations, HR and labor to align training with business needs, manage delivery capacity, and drive measurable improvements in operational performance while maintaining safety

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in operations management, industrial engineering or related field; equivalent experience considered.
• 15+ years in utilities/process industries with training/development experience.
• 5+ years in a leadership role with direct reports and program leadership experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead company-wide operational training strategy and scalable programs across multiple sites.
• Manage governance, processes and resources for technical training in water/wastewater operations.
• Partner with State Operations, HR and labor to align training with business needs.
• Develop scheduling capacity models and measure training effectiveness.
