Job description

The Director of Warehouse is responsible for leading warehouse operations, including developing and implementing strategies to improve key performance indicators, ensuring continuous improvement, and maintaining best practices for order fulfillment, inventory control, storage, and safety. The role also oversees facilities and sanitation, including building and equipment maintenance and pest control, ensuring proper handling and storage of all food products during shipping and receiving activities.

Job Responsibilities

1. Develop and execute strategies to meet organizational goals through strategic planning, ensuring objectives are achieved or surpassed.
2. Oversee all warehouse operations, including scheduling, food storage, temperature control, emergency plans, security, and audits.
3. Establish procedures and controls for safe and efficient product movement and preservation, adhering to safety and sanitation policies.
4. Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
5. Ensure proper inspection, handling, storage, and shipping of various goods in compliance with OSHA, AIB, FA, and local regulations.
6. Manage the activities related to product movement, maximizing space and resources while minimizing waste and damages.
7. Develop and implement HACCP plans to address risks such as cross-contamination, sanitation, waste, and pests.
8. Maintain a safe, clean warehouse environment, enforcing PPE use and safety practices.
9. Schedule maintenance for facilities and equipment.
10. Monitor operations KPIs and analyze productivity.
11. Manage the department budget, aiming to reduce expenses.
12. Coordinate with other departments to optimize warehouse capacity and meet volume goals.
13. Lead hiring, mentorship, training, and performance evaluations for warehouse staff.
14. Promote the organization’s vision, mission, and values.
15. Assist management as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree; APICS certification preferred.
• At least ten years of warehousing experience, preferably with perishable/food products.
• Minimum five years in talent management.
• Knowledge of safety programs and inventory control systems (experience with Ceres WMS is a plus).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, including formulas and pivot tables.
• Experience with process improvement methodologies like lean manufacturing and kaizen.
• Ability to work under pressure, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience in e-commerce order fulfillment is highly preferred.
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to organizational values.
• Valid Florida Driver’s License and reliable vehicle required.

Physical Demands & Working Conditions

Work hours may extend to 45-50 hours/week during peak times, including occasional after-hours and weekend work. The environment involves both office and warehouse settings with exposure to weather, noise, and physical activity such as lifting (up to 50 pounds, with team assistance for heavier loads).
