Job summary

State of Iowa seeks a Director for the Systems Planning Bureau in Ames to lead the bureau and guide the development of the state’s long-range transportation plans. The role reports to the Deputy Director of Planning and Programs and oversees four teams—Planning, Modeling, Traffic & Telemetrics, and Mapping/GIS—driving collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in any field required.
• Iowa Certified Public Manager Program (CPM) equivalence to one year of experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Systems Planning Bureau with ~36 FTE and four teams: Traffic Collection & Analysis; Modeling, Forecasting & Telemetrics; Planning; Mapping & GIS.
• Develop modal transportation plans and the state long-range transportation plan.
• Coordinate with the department, Transportation Commission, other agencies, MPOs/Regional Planning Affiliations, and federal partners; oversee data collection, analysis, mapping, and visualization for plans.
