Biocomposites products are now used in over one million procedures per annum and sold in more than 100 countries around the world.

Position Overview

In the US, there are around 1.6m people who have a diabetic foot infection, with a 5.6 times higher chance of requiring an amputation. Studies further indicate that following a major amputation 50% of amputees will only survive for a further 2 years. As part of its ongoing investment into R & D, Biocomposites has commenced a phase III clinical study for a new drug that will transform the way healthcare professionals treat diabetic foot osteomyelitis.

A team is being assembled to prepare for the launch of this new drug (followed by additional new drugs) into the US healthcare market. As a key member of the Market Access team, the Director of Trade and Distribution will report to and partner closely with the Senior Director, Market Access. This role will optimize the commercial channel network and help shape and execute the U.S. market access strategy needed to support a successful launch and sustained post-launch adoption.

The Director of Trade and Distribution will strategically execute and manage the commercial distribution network for our product portfolio. This role is responsible for overseeing all Third-Party Logistics (3PL) operations, full-line wholesalers, and pharmacy networks. This leader will ensure seamless supply chain continuity and collaborate closely with Market Access to support the operational pull-through, data integration, and fee management of Group Purchasing Organization (GPO) contracts.

Key Responsibilities

3PL & Channel Operations

  • Direct and oversee day-to-day operations of our primary 3PL partner(s), ensuring flawless product storage, inventory management, and physical distribution.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and service level agreements (SLAs) for 3PLs, including order accuracy, on-time delivery, and temperature-controlled shipping compliance.
  • Manage channel inventory levels at wholesalers and distributors to prevent stockouts while mitigating the risk of inventory hoarding or product expiration.
GPO Operational Integration & Support
  • Partner with Market Access Directors to operationally implement newly executed GPO contracts across the distribution network.
  • Ensure proper class-of-trade delineation and roster alignment within wholesaler systems so GPO members receive accurate contract pricing.
  • Manage GPO data feeds and fee structures, ensuring administrative and data fees align with actual channel volume and contract terms.
Financial & Revenue Integrity
  • Manage the Trade budget, including 3PL operational fees, Distribution Service Agreements (DSAs), and operational GPO line items.
  • Oversee the chargeback adjudication process to minimize revenue leakage and efficiently resolve pricing disputes between wholesalers, GPOs, and the company.
  • Collaborate with Finance to track gross-to-net (GTN) dilution stemming from trade discounts, distribution fees, and GPO chargebacks.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical device trade, distribution, or channel operations.
  • Proven track record of directly managing 3PL relationships and commercial wholesaler networks.
  • Strong foundational knowledge of GPOs, specifically regarding roster management, chargebacks, and administrative fee mechanics.
Technical & Behavioral Skills
  • Expertise in drug distribution models, specifically Institutional Channel Strategy, GPO Agreements, alongside buy-and-bill models.
  • Deep analytical skills with specific experience managing complex chargeback architectures and inventory data systems (e.g., 852/867 data feeds).
  • Cross-functional collaborator capable of seamlessly aligning channel logistics with overarching Market Access strategies.
