Job summary

Homewood Living Williamsport coordinates the activity program to meet residents' psycho-social needs across Healthcare Center, Assisted Living and Independent Living. The role involves development of structured activities and supervision of staff, with CTRS and MDS experience a plus.

The incumbent will manage, motivate and lead coworkers, recruit and train staff, and coordinate publication of the monthly calendar of events and a bi-monthly Homewood newsletter.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation or related field, or two years' elderly activity program experience with state-approved certification.
• Completion of state-approved Activity Director Certification.
• Strong written and verbal communication, judgment and coaching skills.
• Compassion, empathy for older persons; leadership and dependability.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the activity program to meet residents' psycho-social needs and develop goals with concise notes.
• Maintain confidentiality of resident and staff information per policies.
• Assess resident activity and social needs; participate in care planning and document progress.
• Conduct reality orientation and group discussions; provide sensory stimulation as needed.
• Collaborate with other departments to meet psycho-social needs and schedule weekend/evening activities.
• Recruit, train, supervise co-workers and volunteers; oversee newsletter and monthly calendar.
