Job summary

Current is seeking a Director, Tax to lead a portfolio of tax compliance engagements for Cutler Advisors clients and other firm portfolios. You will guide engagement strategy, risk management, and staffing while ensuring timely filings and high-quality deliverables.

The role emphasizes senior leadership, client relationships at executive levels, and collaboration with tax leadership to drive growth and quality improvements across the practice.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
• CPA license required, or equivalent active licensure as applicable.
• Significant experience leading and reviewing tax engagements in a public accounting environment.
• Advanced knowledge of federal and state tax concepts and compliance requirements.
• Strong engagement strategy and risk management skills, with the ability to lead leaders and manage multiple concurrent priorities.
• Strong client-facing communication, stakeholder management, and sound professional judgment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and tax software and tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead a portfolio of tax compliance engagements, ensuring consistent quality, accurate documentation, and on-time delivery.
• Set engagement strategy for complex clients, including risk assessment, planning expectations, staffing, timelines, and review depth; align decisions with tax leadership.
• Review key tax judgments, high-risk areas, and engagement conclusions to ensure positions are supported and filing requirements are met.
• Coach and develop senior managers, managers, supervisors, and assigned engagement teams; provide clear priorities, feedback, and performance management support.
• Build and maintain client relationships through clear executive-level communication, expectation-setting, and timely resolution of concerns; support client retention and growth.
• Advance quality improvement, standardization, training, and technology adoption, coordinating with other service lines and specialists as appropriate.
