Job summary

NScale is seeking a Director of Substation & Grid Engineering to lead design for its data center portfolio. You will own standards for substations, protection, and interconnection studies, serving utilities and ISO/RTOs while guiding a team of engineers through complex projects.

The role requires 8–12+ years in the field, a Bachelor’s in EE, and a PE license; Master's preferred. Base salary is competitive with strong bonus potential and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
• 8–12+ years in substation design, protection and controls, or grid engineering.
• Master's degree and PE license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Define technical requirements and design standards for substations and protection schemes.
• Own load and generator interconnection applications and studies across the portfolio.
• Lead and develop a team of Staff Engineers delivering substation and grid design.
• Coordinate interconnection exhibits and align with Legal and Energy Procurement.
• Support utility development, power procurement, and market strategy with technical input.
