An established institution is seeking a dedicated Grants Officer to enhance student research and support faculty in securing funding. This role involves coordinating significant research symposiums, managing grant proposals, and ensuring compliance with funding regulations. POSITION SUMMARY:
This position has two primary strategic purposes: to support student research, particularly the URSS and GRS, and to assist faculty with federal and state research grant applications, including preparation, review, submission, monitoring, and compliance with funding agency regulations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Student Research
URSS/GRS: Coordinate and oversee the Undergraduate Research & Scholarship Symposium and Graduate Research Symposium. Supervise student workers in event coordination and marketing. Maintain relationships with College, Schools, and Departments to promote student research. Advertise activities via the Lyris account studentresearch@lyris.duq.edu. Ensure ORI presence at DU Open Houses and FAST events. Coordinate DU attendance at the National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR), including promotion, travel assistance, and serving as university contact.
Grants Management
Proposal Submission: Submit grant proposals to federal and state funders, primarily NSF, NIH, and others. Facilitate communication with PIs for internal review and approval. Engage with federal agencies as needed. Assist with subcontracts and post-award accounting. Maintain grant records in the ORI database (currently Mentor).
Office Coverage: Collaborate with other Grant Officers to ensure timely grant submissions and reports. Assist in maintaining university registrations for federal grants. Support other grant-related tasks as required.
Other: Supervise Graduate Research Assistant and Federal Work-Study student. Provide backup support for the Director of Business and Grants Administration and other Grants Officers. Perform additional duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum qualifications: Master's degree in business, management, accounting, humanities, social studies, or a related field from an accredited institution, with at least five years of progressively responsible experience.
Preferred qualifications: Same as above. Alternatively, any equivalent combination of experience and training demonstrating the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
