Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Dean of Student Affairs, the Director of Student Financial Aid administers the student financial aid program including federal, state and local funds. Assesses financial needs of students, and advises students regarding financial aid options, processes, and requirements. Evaluates student academic progress and adjudicates academic progress appeals. Participates as appropriate in systems/procedures planning and management; implements and coordinates specific individual programs and/or assignments, in accordance with the overall objectives of the department.

Uses logic and knowledge of policies, procedures, and appropriate governmental regulations to solve problems and make decision on a correct course of action when a choice can be made; makes logical and timely decisions; exhibits flexibility and a willingness to learn; deals professionally with unexpected situations and operates with little or no direct supervision.

Ability to cope with stressful circumstances and to cordially interact with coworkers to accomplish common tasks. Exhibits a willingness to assume additional duties; seeks the guidance of supervisor prior to beginning an unfamiliar assignment unless otherwise instructed. Ability to perform in a confidential, ethical and professional manner.

  • Manage all functions for Title IV funding by serving as the Financial Aid Administrator for the Hazelden Betty Ford Graduate School to ensure that all federal regulations are met and students accurately funded.
  • Manages grants and scholarship awarding process and other projects as assigned.
  • Serve on committees and work groups as a financial aid representative of the Hazelden Betty Ford Graduate School.
  • Serve as main point of contact to assess military connected students’ needs.
  • Administers, controls, and coordinatesfederal, state and institutional financial aid funds from numerous individual programs.Ensures compliance with all laws and regulations through accurate reporting and auditing and resolves any issues related to auditors' findings.

  • Bachelor's degree or a minimum of five years of increased administrative responsibilities for financial aid programs at a college or university or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and institutional financial aid programs

  • Ability to commit to a team-building approach
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet timelines and objectives
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in accounting, business, student affairs or public administration.
  • Experience administering Title IV federal student aid or experience in accounting, finance, or other business-related field.
  • Experience with need analysis, counseling, and packaging aid

USD $50,439.00 - USD $73,499.00 /Yr.
