Job summary

Marian University in Fond du Lac, WI, seeks a licensed mental health counselor to provide individual and group counseling to students, faculty, and staff, while coordinating referrals with community resources.

The role requires a Master’s in Counseling, current state licensure, and a minimum of three years’ experience in counseling, preferably in higher education. You will deliver crisis intervention, staff training, programming, and serve on call as needed.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Counseling or related area; current state licensure required.
• Minimum of three years of experience in counseling, preferably in a higher education setting.
• Strong listening, attending and counseling skills.
• Knowledge of counseling theory and practical application.
• Commitment to students' academic success and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Provides individual and group personal counseling to students.
• Makes referrals and liaises with external mental health centers.
• Networks with mental health agencies in the area.
• Provides crisis intervention and aftercare planning.
• Provides ongoing training of residence life staff and student groups.
• Facilitates psychoeducational programming for Marian community.
• Facilitates and initiates support groups.
• Assists faculty for classroom presentations and consultations on student behavior.
• Provides crisis coverage for residential students on rotating basis.
• Maintains confidentiality and case records.
