Job summary

Marquette University seeks a Director of Student Conduct to lead design, implementation and supervision of programs guiding student conduct, policy development, enforcement and adjudication.

The role coordinates investigations, manages data and records, reviews policies, develops outreach, and supervises staff and student workers. A strong background in student affairs, policy work, and commitment to the Catholic and Jesuit mission is required.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Student Affairs Administration, College Student Personnel, Counseling, or related field.
  • Minimum of five years in student affairs, specifically student conduct administration and policy development in a college setting.
  • Experience and knowledge in student conduct administration, policy development.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the Catholic and Jesuit mission of the institution.
  • Experience with project management, publications, external relations and policy articulation and implementation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills for collaboration with students, faculty, and staff.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and exercise sound judgment.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to critical student conduct concerns in coordination with campus entities and oversee investigations for fraternities, sororities and student organizations.
  • Serve as a conduct administrator and database administrator for case management software; manage data and records and interact with campus entities.
  • Coordinate and implement an assessment plan for hearing processes and officer performance.
  • Regularly review and revise policies related to student life (e.g., Conduct Code, Alcohol/Drug Policies).
  • Develop, implement and evaluate student outreach programming related to advocacy, integrity and the conduct code; conduct training for staff.
  • Supervise staff and student employees, including hiring, terminations, disciplinary actions, performance management, and development.

Director of Student Conduct Responsibilities

The Director of Student Conduct is primarily responsible for design, implementation and supervision of programs and practices related to the student conduct process, policy development, enforcement, and adjudication.

  • 1. Respond to critical student conduct concerns in coordination with other campus entities. Provide direction for the student conduct process. Coordinate student conduct investigations and response for fraternities and sororities and other student organizations.
  • 2. Serve as a student conduct administrator and database administrator for case management software. Oversee student conduct data and records and serve as the contact person for student conduct data for on and off campus entities. Serve as a department representative on university committees.
  • 3. Coordinate and implement an assessment plan for hearing processes, student learning, and hearing officer/board member performance.
  • 4. Regularly review and if necessary, suggest revision to policies related to student life including the Student Conduct Code, Alcohol and Drug Policies, Parental Notification, etc. Stay current on research, trends, best practices, and legal issues pertinent to student behavior, student conduct and sanctioning. Compile annual data reports.
  • 5. Develop, implement and evaluate student outreach programming related to advocacy, integrity and the student code of conduct. Conduct training for student conduct administrators annually on Code of Student Conduct, conduct processes and procedures, Title IX and alcohol and drug issues in the college environment. Complete associated purchasing, expense reporting, and other financial duties related to programming events.
  • 6. Responsible for the supervision of staff and student employees which includes but is not limited to hiring, terming, disciplinary actions, performance management, staff development, etc.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Master’s degree in Student Affairs Administration, College Student Personnel, Counseling, or a related field
  • A minimum of five years of experience working in student affairs and, specifically, student conduct administration and policy development in a college setting.
  • Experience and knowledge in student conduct administration, policy development.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the Catholic and Jesuit mission of the institution.
  • Experience with project management, publications, external relations and policy articulation and implementation.
  • Strong analytical skills and problem resolution experience.
  • Excellent organizational and communication (written and oral) skills that contribute to effective collaborations with students, faculty, administrators and other community members.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and exercise sound judgment.
  • Demonstrated ability to cultivate collaborative relationships with internal and external constituencies.
