Job summary

Knape & Vogt Manufacturing Company, based in Grand Rapids, seeks a Director of Strategic Sourcing to lead global spend, supplier metrics, and supply chain analytics. You will direct purchasing, sourcing, and analytics, manage large scale projects, and drive cost savings across direct and indirect spend.

Ideal candidates have 15+ years in procurement, a related bachelor’s degree, and strong ERP and MS Office expertise.

Qualifications

• 15 years of experience in Procurement or Supply Chain in strategic sourcing.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Engineering or related field.
• Proficient in ERP systems and Microsoft Office; ERP systems expert.

Responsibilities

• Act as a global leader for all spend, supply chain development, and supplier metrics.
• Direct the strategic and tactical activities of Purchasing, Sourcing, and Supply Management Analytics.
• Drive and manage near/shoring projects and activities with strong project management.
• Develop Oracle Supplier Portal and Power BI dashboards and KPI tracking globally.
• Negotiate long-term contracts and define supplier quality systems and scorecards.
• Lead cost reduction initiatives and optimize make vs. buy decisions.
• Coach and develop teams across a matrix Operations; provide ongoing feedback.

What Will You Get To Do:

• Act as a global leader for all spend, supply chain development, and supplier metrics
• Direct the strategic and tactical activities of Purchasing, Sourcing, and Supply Management Analytics
• Drive, align, and ensure strong project management of all near / on shoring projects and activities
• Globally develop and align team to Oracle Supplier Portal and Power BI application dashboards and KPI’s
• Contract line-item delivery schedules, leasing programs, and strategic contract negotiation with all suppliers
• Manage a spend of up to $200M and determines budget needs for assigned projects
• Achieve year on year cost savings in both direct and indirect spend, including consultant engagements
• Drive the Value Creation Plan (VCP) with strategic sourcing elements and critical savings projects
• Collaborate with Asian procurement to leverage spend, and achieve cost saving targets
• Define supplier quality system and score card metrics for monthly and quarterly reporting
• Utilize data analysis and reporting to support supply chain strategies and cost reduction efforts
• Coordinate with Sales and Marketing teams to set launch quantities of new products
• Foster and maintain deep cross functional partnerships and provide meaningful analysis
• Optimize logistics both inbound and outbound to reduce cost and optimize inventory holdings
• Seek advice from legal and cross functional team to develop and execute the spend plan
• Manage the necessary trade compliance process for both internal and government mandated
• Identify critical suppliers and negotiates long-term contracts that set out prices, quality standards, cost-reduction targets, delivery timescales and commercial terms and conditions
• Lead teams to perform make vs. buy decisions and achieves cost optimization projects
• Effective coaching, mentoring, and global team development across a matrix Operations
• Coach and develop others to ensure organizational success; identifies talent and provides opportunities to learn and grow; recognizes great performance; provides ongoing feedback; addresses performance issues decisively and quickly

What Will You Bring:

• Work Experience: 15 years of experience in Procurement or Supply Chain in strategic sourcing, knowledge of procurement module of an ERP system, experience in global sourcing
• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Engineering or related field
• Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, and an expert in ERP Systems
• Communication Skills: Ability to think logically, strategically and support business objectives; Effective written and verbal communication skills
