Soledad Community Health Care Dist in Soledad, CA, seeks a Director of Staff Development. Under DON supervision, this role coordinates orientation, educational programs, and learning opportunities to ensure safe, compliant nursing care and ongoing professional development.

You will lead infection prevention efforts, schedule in-service trainings, maintain records, and support performance improvement initiatives.

Competenze

• Current California LVN or RN license.
• Two years of nursing experience.
• At least one year planning, implementing, and evaluating educational programs in nursing.
• Alternative: 24 hours CE certificates in planning, implementing and evaluating nursing education within six months of employment.

Salary Range: $85,000.00 To $125,000.00 Annually

Director of Staff Development

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the general direction of the Director of Nursing (DON), the DSD will provide the necessary orientation, educational and learning opportunities within a supportive environment that will assist staff in gaining knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to perform assigned duties safely and effectively. Our DSD monitors the activities of nursing staff to ensure quality care that complies with state, federal and corporate standards. They also direct the infection prevention and control program and its activities.

DUTIES:

• Supervises orientation for all facility personnel.
• Provides orientation for all nursing personnel according to state, federal, and facility guidelines.
• Provides in-service orientation for all nursing and facility personnel to include federal and state mandated education.
• Records all employee in-service attendance.
• Responsible for yearly nursing staff competence assessment and record keeping.
• Obtains guest speakers when appropriate to the topic. Resources may include Lab services, physicians, pharmacy, respiratory therapists, case managers, social Workers, rehabilitation staff, and outside consultants as needed.
• Responsible for facility yearly in-service calendar.
• Participates in all aspects of performance improvement activities including risk management.
• Participates in all aspects of infection control activities. Sits on the infection control committee.
• Ensures the proper staff to patient ratios for the facility. Functions as the resource nurse, or staff nurse as needed.
• Creates, reviews or revises all facility policies and procedures in accordance with state, or federal guidelines as well as research-based practice.
• Maintains and reviews employee files as they relate to health, licensure, and mandatory education requirements to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Monitors compliance of nursing staff with all facility policies and procedures to ensure safe, effective nursing care for all residents.
• Other job duties as assigned.

Experience/Skills:

• The candidate must possess a current or active California Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) or Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• The candidate must have two years of experience as a licensed nurse.
• One of the two years must be in providing care and services to chronically ill or elderly patients in an acute care hospital, skilled nursing facility, intermediate care facility, home care, hospice care, or other long-term care setting.
• And one of the two below:
  • The candidate must have one year of experience planning, implementing, and evaluating educational programs in nursing;

OR

The candidate must possess 24 hours of continuing education certificate(s) in planning, implementing, and evaluating educational programs in nursing. These courses must either be approved by the Board of Registered Nursing or be administered by an accredited educational institution and the certificate(s) must be obtained within six months of employment and prior to teaching in a training program
