About the Position
The Director of Special Education provides leadership and oversight for the district’s special education programs and services across the full continuum of support. This role is responsible for supervising and supporting special education staff to ensure high-quality service delivery for students and families. The Director manages program budgets, leads staffing planning and personnel decisions, and ensures compliance with all applicable federal and state regulations, as well as district policies. In addition, the Director designs and facilitates professional development to build staff capacity and improve instructional outcomes.
This position begins the 2025-26 school year. Start date is July 1, 2025.

Required Qualifications:
Master’s degree in special education or a closely related field
Significant experience working successfully with special education students/classrooms.
Minimum of five years of increasingly responsible experience in curriculum and instruction, school leadership, professional development, and/or program management experience.
Licenses/Special Requirements:
Valid Washington State Program Administrator/Principal Certificate
Holds or is eligible for a Washington State Teaching License in Special Education or a related ESA Certificate
2024-25 Manager Salary Schedule: Level V (- 3 Furlough Days)
