Job summary

Vesper Energy seeks a Director, Development to own development execution for a portfolio of utility-scale solar and energy storage projects across U.S. power markets from early stage through construction readiness and financing close.

The role leads a development team, coordinates interconnection, permitting, real estate, engineering, finance and legal workstreams, and escalates key decisions with options and data to Development leadership.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, environmental science, economics, finance, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
• Years of Experience: 10+ years in utility scale renewable energy or infrastructure development with cross-functional execution.
• People leadership: 3+ years, including coaching and performance feedback.

Responsibilities

• Lead greenfield development execution for a portfolio of utility scale solar and storage projects across U.S. power markets.
• Own project schedules, budgets, milestones, and risk registers; ensure COD and value protection.
• Drive cross-functional execution across interconnection, permitting, real estate, engineering, legal, and finance.
• Manage interconnection strategy and execution, including applications, study inputs, timelines, and obligations.
• Partner with Finance for feasibility analyses and decision-ready recommendations.
• Negotiate and coordinate project support agreements and stakeholder commitments.
• Lead external stakeholder engagement and manage landowner relationships.
• Oversee contractors, vendors, and consultants; monitor performance and resolve issues.
