Job summary

Sunrock Distributed Generation is seeking a Project Development Director to lead the development of its commercial and industrial solar and energy storage portfolio. The Director will oversee the Project Development team and advance projects from LOI through NTP.

The successful candidate will bring strong leadership, commercial judgment, and renewable energy development experience, working cross-functionally to drive project execution and financing readiness.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree.
• 8+ years of renewable energy project development experience.
• Proven track record developing commercial and industrial (C&I) or distributed generation projects to Notice to Proceed.
• Deep understanding of core development workstreams, including interconnection, permitting, engineering, site control, contracting, and project economics.
• Demonstrated experience leading project teams, managing complex development portfolios, and mentoring junior staff.
• Strong commercial judgment, communication, and negotiation skills, with experience presenting to senior internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead project development for a portfolio of ground-mount, rooftop, and carport solar and storage projects from Letter of Intent through Notice to Proceed, including strategy, technical development, risk management, portfolio management, project economics and financing, and contracting.
• Oversee negotiation and execution of key project agreements with customers, landowners, utilities, development partners, and vendors.
• Lead the Project Development team and manage internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful project execution, including team leadership, cross-functional coordination, relationship management and reporting, and market strategy.
