Job summary

Advantest is seeking a Director of Software Engineering to lead Hardware System Integration, Handler, Test Engineering, and Portfolio Engineering for semiconductor test platforms. You will guide global teams and dedicate ~50% of time to hands-on coding and debugging across software and hardware.

The role requires deep expertise in software architecture, CI/CD, and production support, with strong cross-functional communication globally. Onsite presence in Lake Forest, CA is required.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of software engineering or related technical experience.
• 10+ years of technical engineering management experience.
• 3+ years managing a multi-tier organization, including managers or supervisors.
• Experience with semiconductor equipment-control software, material handling systems, or factory automation.
• Strong knowledge of GEM/SECS and SEMI standards.
• Experience integrating software with testers, handlers, and production equipment.
• Willingness to work onsite in Lake Forest, CA.

Responsibilities

• Translate engineering strategy into plans, milestones, and delivery schedules.
• Lead software managers, technical leads, developers, and test engineers across multiple engineering domains.
• Drive execution across products and customer programs and deliver milestones.
• Align software development, integration, validation, and release schedules with SW PM and Hardware TPMs.
• Lead software integration across testers, handlers, and factory automation systems.
• Develop communication interfaces for material handling and factory management systems.
• Oversee production data capabilities, telemetry, and alarms.
