Job summary

7Seventy Recruiting is seeking a Director of Software Engineering to lead a ~50-person engineering organization responsible for complex cloud-based products and platforms. The role partners with Product Management and executives to shape roadmaps, investments, and delivery across Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud.

The leader will drive architectural decisions, talent development, and platform scalability while guiding AI-enabled product initiatives and cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of progressive software engineering experience, including significant leadership experience within complex technology organizations.
• Proven experience leading large engineering organizations through multiple layers of management, including managers and senior managers.
• Demonstrated success partnering with Product Management and executive stakeholders to define strategy, prioritize investments, and deliver business outcomes.
• Experience defining and implementing software engineering best practices across the full software development lifecycle.
• Strong record of organizational leadership, including coaching leaders, driving change, and building high-performing teams.
• Experience delivering large-scale cloud-based solutions using Azure, AWS, and/or Google Cloud Platform.

Responsibilities

• Guide engineering teams in evaluating and prioritizing technical initiatives by articulating business value and aligning investments with strategic objectives.
• Lead engineering hiring, workforce planning, and succession planning to attract, retain, and develop engineering talent.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, sales, customer success, and executive stakeholders to deliver complex, large-scale initiatives.
• Champion Agile and Kanban development methodologies while promoting continuous improvement, accountability, and technical excellence.
• Support the development and scaling of AI-driven products and services and help establish an integrated data ecosystem that enables continued innovation.

Compensation: $217,800-$242,000 annual base salary

Travel: Periodic travel to Mississauga and/or Salt Lake City offices for onboarding, team events, semi-annual meetings, and annual meetings

About the Role

The Director, Software Engineering will lead a large software engineering organization responsible for complex cloud-based products and platforms. The role oversees approximately 50 engineers through a management structure of 10–11 managers and senior managers, with responsibility for engineering strategy, organizational effectiveness, technical architecture, product delivery, talent development, and long-term platform capabilities.

This position partners closely with Product Management and executive stakeholders to define roadmaps, prioritize technical investments, and align engineering execution with business objectives. The role also guides cloud architecture across application and platform services, supports the development and scaling of AI-enabled products, and strengthens leadership capability across multiple engineering teams.
