Position Overview

Director of Software Engineering (Full‑time, Hybrid, 50% in Omaha, NE office)

We seek a strategic, execution‑oriented leader to manage multiple software engineering managers and their Agile delivery teams within a large‑scale enterprise technology organization. The candidate will advance cloud transformation, modernization, software delivery maturity, and AI‑enabled engineering capabilities while building a strong, collaborative engineering culture.

This position is not eligible for employer visa sponsorship.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead engineering delivery and execution across multiple teams.
• Drive cloud and platform modernization initiatives.
• Enable AI‑engineering and future technology strategy.
• Modernize legacy platforms and improve engineering effectiveness.
• Partner closely with business and technology stakeholders in a highly matrixed environment.
• Shape next‑generation software delivery using cloud‑native architectures, platform engineering practices, automation, observability, and responsible AI adoption.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field (or equivalent work experience) and 10+ years of software engineering experience, including supervision of managers.
• Trusted and respected thought leader capable of influencing business and IT leaders.
• Strong understanding of software engineering delivery models, SDLC practices, and operational excellence principles.
• Excellent communication, organizational leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience in insurance, financial services, healthcare, or other regulated industries.
• Experience with Microsoft Azure cloud platform and cloud‑native engineering practices.
• Familiarity with Guidewire platforms or enterprise core systems modernization.
• MBA or advanced technical/business degree preferred.
