Job summary

Sunrise Preschools seeks a business-minded School Director to own the overall performance of one of our early childhood education campuses. You will serve as the general manager and community leader, responsible for people, operations, P&L, enrollment growth, customer experience, quality and overall business results.

You may come from early childhood education or from other customer-focused industries; leadership is what matters.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Leadership experience in operations, general management, customer experience, or a related field.
• Experience leading teams with accountability for business and operational results.
• Early childhood experience is valued, but not required for candidates with strong transferable leadership experience.
• Must meet applicable state licensing and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Own P&L, revenue, enrollment, labor, expenses, and KPIs.
• Lead enrollment, occupancy, retention, and local growth strategies.
• Build an engaged culture and develop future leaders.
• Ensure safe, efficient, compliant school operations.

While this is an education environment, you do not need to come from early childhood education to be successful.

As School Director, you are the general manager and community leader of your school - with ownership of your people, operations, P&L, enrollment growth, customer experience, quality, and overall business results.

What You’ll Own

Business Performance & Growth

• Own P&L, revenue, enrollment, labor, expenses, and key performance indicators.
• Use business and operational data to identify opportunities and drive measurable improvement.
• Lead enrollment, occupancy, retention, and local growth strategies.
• Partner with Marketing and community organizations to increase awareness and demand.

People Leadership

• Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team.
• Establish clear expectations, priorities, and accountability.
• Build an engaged culture and develop future leaders.
• Lead teams effectively through change.

Customer & Community Experience

• Create an exceptional experience that builds trust, loyalty, and long-term relationships with families.
• Serve as a visible leader and build strong relationships throughout the local community.
• Use customer feedback to continuously improve the experience.

Operational Excellence

• Ensure safe, efficient, and compliant school operations.
• Maintain accountability for quality, facilities, safety, risk mitigation, and operational readiness.
• Partner with education leaders to ensure strong program execution.
• Continuously identify opportunities to improve performance and results.
