This leader will be responsible for developing and executing the sales strategy for one of our newest product categories and supporting a high performing sales organization focused on delivering an exceptional customer experience.

The ideal candidate combines deep expertise in the camera & video industry with a proven ability to build and develop exceptional teams, cultivate strategic partnerships, and translate market insights into measurable business growth. This individual is an influential leader who thrives in a collaborative environment, leverages data to make informed decisions, and inspires others through coaching, accountability, and a passion for delivering outstanding customer experiences.

Working cross functionally with Merchandising, Marketing, and Executive Leadership, this role will help shape the long‑term strategy for the Camera & Video category while ensuring Sweetwater continues to be the premier destination for musicians, content creators, filmmakers, and visual media enthusiasts.

As Director of Sales for Camera & Video, you will shape the future of one of Sweetwater's newest and exciting growth categories by influencing business strategy, developing exceptional teams, strengthening industry partnerships, and delivering an unmatched customer experience. This role is equal parts strategist, people leader, industry expert, and customer advocate, offering the opportunity to leave a lasting impact on both our customers and our business.

Job Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute the long-term sales strategy for Sweetwater's Camera & Video category.
  • Identify emerging market trends, evolving customer behaviors, and new technologies that create opportunities for sustainable growth.
  • Partner with Merchandising to optimize product assortment, pricing strategies, inventory planning, and promotional initiatives.
  • Analyze sales performance, customer insights, and market data to identify opportunities, influence business decisions, and improve category profitability.
  • Champion a culture of driving continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance processes, drive innovation, and elevate the customer experience.
  • Represent the voice of the customer while helping shape the future direction of the Camera & Video business.
  • Partner with Marketing to develop campaigns that increase customer engagement and category growth.
  • Collaborate with Merchandising to ensure competitive product positioning and assortment strategies.
  • Work closely with Customer Experience to improve the end-to-end customer journey.
  • Build strong relationships across the organization to align priorities, influence decision making, and execute strategic initiatives that drive long term business success.
Sales Leadership
  • Lead, coach, and develop a high performing sales organization committed to delivering exceptional customer experiences.
  • Establish clear goals, performance expectations, and accountability while fostering an environment built on collaboration, trust, and continuous learning.
  • Mentor leaders and Sales Engineers to strengthen product expertise, consultative selling skills, and customer engagement.
  • Use performance metrics and business insights to coach teams, recognize opportunities, and remove barriers to success.
  • Lead through influence, adaptability, and sound decision making while effectively navigating change and organizational growth.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Film & Media, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Eight or more years of progressive sales leadership experience.
  • Five or more years leading managers or large sales organizations.
  • Previous leadership experience within consumer electronics, specialty retail, premium retail, or another environment with significant Camera & Video product responsibility.
  • Demonstrated success developing business strategies that drive sustainable revenue growth and market share
  • Strong financial and analytical acumen with the ability to translate data into actionable business decisions.
  • Proven experience building high performing teams through coaching, talent development, and performance leadership.
  • Excellent communication, relationship building, and executive presentation skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Extensive knowledge of premium camera & video products including DSLR and mirrorless cameras, cinema cameras, lenses, video production equipment, lighting, gimbals, drones, and related technologies.
  • Experience working directly with premium camera & video manufacturers and strategic vendor partners.
  • Experience leading category strategy within a large retail or ecommerce organization.
  • Passion for visual storytelling, exceptional image and video quality, and helping customers create meaningful visual experiences.
