Job summary

The State of Oregon’s Forestry Department seeks a dynamic leader to serve as Safety and Services Director. This role oversees the Employee Services Unit, guiding safety programs, investigations, and policy implementation to protect staff and ensure regulatory compliance.

As a senior leadership member, you will drive risk management, develop educational opportunities, and coordinate with statewide teams to maintain a safe, productive work environment across Oregon’s forests and offices.

Qualifications

• Six years of supervision, management, or progressively related experience.
• OR
• Three years of related experience and a bachelor of Science in Occupational Safety and Health, Safety Management, Business Administration or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and guide a team responsible for workplace injury investigations, assessing failures and opportunities for improvement, and monitoring safety trends.
• Develop and implement policies and operational goals to prevent workplace injuries and incidents, aligning with OR-OSHA standards.
• Collaborate with supervisors and managers to support safe, compliant operations and ensure agency compliance with laws and regulations.
• Build strong relationships as a member of the leadership team to drive continuous improvement and a safe workplace.
