Job summary

Extended Stay America is seeking a Director of Safety & Security to ensure a consistent approach to threats, incidents, and crisis management across properties. You will coordinate crisis plans and liaise with hotel management, regional asset managers, risk management, and guest relations as needed.

The role requires 10+ years in safety and security, hotel safety experience preferred, a Bachelor's degree, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of Safety & Security experience, hotel safety experience or public safety background preferred
• Spanish language ability preferred (speaking and writing)
• Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in related field

Responsibilities

• Coordinate execution of crisis management plans and action
• Liaise with hotel management, regional asset managers, risk management, and guest relations on safety matters
• Provide reporting on threat assessment, risk mitigation, incident reporting trends, crisis management
• Serve as primary contact for hotel management on safety and security matters and action plans
• Ensure implementation of policy and compliance programs
• Assist with safety program training (virtual and in-person)
• Provide access to safety information sources and tools for hotels
• Act as primary contact under the crisis management plan for assigned hotels
• Develop relationships with governmental agencies on safety matters involving hotels
• Assist management with inquiries from law enforcement per company policies
• Demonstrate knowledge of safety regulations, fire codes, building/construction codes, security codes
• Demonstrate strong presentation and written communication skills
• Analyze data to support strategic/tactical decisions
• Maintain discretion and confidentiality
• Solve problems and proactively prevent issues
• Make independent decisions and conduct in-depth investigations
• Manage time, meet deadlines, flag delays
• Motivate hotel leaders and employees to perform
• Seek innovative solutions
