Job summary

Good Shepherd Denver seeks a Director of Safety to lead security and safety initiatives across parish and school operations. The role emphasizes policy development, training, and collaboration with law enforcement and diocesan partners to foster a trusted, caring environment.

The director will manage a 5-year security strategy, coordinate drills, and oversee volunteers to ensure rapid, effective responses to incidents while maintaining Christ-centered culture and community trust.

Qualifications

• 5 years' experience in security administration, law enforcement, or other relevant field.
• Experience creating and communicating policy and procedures.
• Experience creating and leading training.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Fully initiated Catholic in the communion of the Catholic Church preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and annually update the Campus Emergency Operations Plan (EOP).
• Establish and maintain Incident Command System (ICS) protocols for school and parish operations.
• Ensure compliance with applicable laws, guidance, and best practices.
• Prepare reports/presentations for leadership and safety committees.
• Lead hazard mitigation projects (e.g., door hardening, traffic flow redesign, emergency communications upgrades).
• Maintain a visible campus presence during key times to deter risks and promote safety.
• Coordinate with local law enforcement, fire, and EMS as necessary.
• Recruit, train, schedule, and oversee safety volunteers for events and activities.
• Plan and document drills to meet state and diocesan requirements.
