Position: Director of Safety – Power Division

Location: Southeastern U.S. Preferred (Remote with travel flexibility)

Industry: Civil Infrastructure | Power Delivery | Renewable Energy

About the Company

We are a nationally recognized heavy civil and energy infrastructure contractor with a decades-long track record of delivering complex projects across the United States. Our core markets include Power Delivery (transmission, distribution, substations), Civil Infrastructure (earthwork, site development, disaster response), and Renewable Energy (solar, battery storage, wind). With a culture grounded in operational excellence, safety, and innovation, we seek a forward-thinking safety leader to take our power-focused operations to the next level.

Position Overview

We are seeking a Director of Safety to oversee safety strategy, leadership, and compliance across all Power Division operations—including Transmission & Distribution, Substations, Civil Infrastructure, and Renewable Energy projects. This role is responsible for driving a safety-first culture, aligning field practices with enterprise goals, and mentoring a dispersed team of safety professionals across high-risk, fast-paced environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all aspects of the safety program for the Power Division, covering civil, electrical, and renewable scopes.
  • Collaborate with project leadership to embed safety into all planning, mobilization, and execution phases.
  • Mentor and develop regional and field-level safety staff; act as a leadership liaison between operations and EHS leadership.
  • Analyze leading and lagging indicators, and implement actionable strategies to reduce high-potential exposures (HPEs).
  • Drive continuous improvement in safety culture through human performance (HP), behavior-based safety (BBS), and CIF (Critical Incident Frequency) prevention programs.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, MSHA, NFPA 70E, and client-specific safety requirements.
  • Participate in business development efforts by supporting prequalification efforts, client presentations, and proposal safety narratives.
  • Interface with insurance providers, third-party auditors, and clients to represent the company’s safety philosophy and performance.

Ideal Background

  • 10+ years of progressive safety leadership in the construction, power delivery, or heavy civil sectors.
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams on multi-discipline, high-risk projects (T&D, substations, renewables, or disaster response preferred).
  • Deep understanding of utility owner requirements, safety audits, and performance metrics.
  • Familiarity with high-voltage electrical safety, line-of-fire mitigation, and human performance principles.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels—from field crews to executive stakeholders.
  • Safety certifications such as CSP, CHST, CUSP, or equivalent are highly preferred.
  • Willingness to travel regionally/nationally as needed.

Why Join Us?

  • Opportunity to lead safety for some of the most critical and high-visibility infrastructure projects in the country.
  • A values-driven culture that prioritizes people, integrity, and results.
  • Competitive executive compensation package, bonus eligibility, vehicle program, and full benefits.
  • Long-term career growth with influence on national operations and strategy.
