Carolina Container in High Point, NC is seeking a Safety Director to lead and coordinate our environmental, health, and safety (EHS) programs across manufacturing and warehouse operations.

You will establish policies that promote a culture of safety, ensure regulatory compliance (OSHA, EPA, DOT, NFPA), and drive continuous improvement through audits, training, and incident investigations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in a relevant field (OHS, EH, engineering) is required.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety management systems.
  • Professional certifications CSP, CSD, ASP or CIH are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and enforce policies to establish a culture of health and safety.
  • Evaluate practices and facilities to assess risk and compliance.
  • Conduct training and presentations on health, safety, and accident prevention.
  • Investigate accidents or incidents and handle workers' compensation claims.
  • Develop and execute company-wide safety strategies and programs.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, NFPA and applicable regulations.
  • Coordinate safety audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
  • Lead corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Oversee environmental compliance and sustainability efforts.

Job description

The Safety Director is responsible for developing, implementing, and leading all environmental, health, and safety (EHS) programs across Carolina Container's manufacturing and warehouse operations. This role ensures compliance with applicable regulations while promoting a culture of safety excellence. The Safety Director will also be responsible for establishing policies that will create and maintain a safe workplace.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Prepare and enforce policies to establish a culture of health and safety.
  • Evaluate practices, procedures and facilities to assess risk and adherence to the law.
  • Conduct training and presentations for health and safety matters and accident prevention.
  • Investigate accidents or incidents to discover causes and handle worker's compensation claims.
  • Recommend solutions to issues, improvement opportunities or new prevention measures.
  • Report on health and safety awareness, issues and statistics.
  • Develop and execute company-wide safety strategies, policies, and programs.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, NFPA, and applicable regulations.
  • Conduct risk assessments, safety audits, and incident investigations.
  • Lead corrective action efforts and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees and supervisors.
  • Coordinate emergency preparedness and response planning.
  • Monitor safety metrics and provide regular reports to leadership.
  • Oversee environmental compliance and sustainability initiatives.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
