Job summary

Genesee & Wyoming Inc. (G&W) is seeking a dynamic Industrial Development leader in Ohio to drive growth across rail-oriented industries.

The role focuses on attracting new opportunities, promoting sites for build/ expansion, and coordinating with Marketing, Sales, and external partners to close deals. The ideal candidate has 5+ years in railroad/economic development, strong communication, and the ability to mentor staff while delivering strategic results.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or related field.
• Minimum five years in railroad/economic development marketing or sales.
• At least 5 years of business development in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Attract, develop and facilitate growth of new rail-oriented industries along Genesee & Wyoming rail lines.
• Promote sites for new build and expansion via meetings and outreach.
• Respond to site search inquiries.
• Demonstrate expertise in industrial development concepts and procedures.
• Provide strategic direction and mentor other Industrial Development professionals.
• Establish and nurture relationships with EDCs, state agencies, landowners, brokers and developers.
• Keep Department head informed of results, actions and analyses.
• Assist staff engineer with track layout data gathering.
• Maintain and update database of adjacent properties.
• Promote sites via media, website, LinkedIn.
• Coordinate new customer onboarding for ID projects across Marketing & Sales teams.
• Develop proposals for new business opportunities, initiate proposals, close deals.
• Perform reporting and analysis tasks.
• Promote and support the commercial agenda of the company.
• Collaborate with key stakeholders across the company.
• Assist with training new Industrial Development staff.
• Manage other projects and duties as assigned.
