A leading engineering and energy solutions organization is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer to support complex power systems projects across utility, renewable, and industrial environments. This is a fully remote opportunity offering high-impact technical leadership and involvement in large-scale infrastructure initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead electrical engineering design and analysis for power systems, including transmission, distribution, and generation assets
- Perform system studies such as load flow, short circuit, arc flash, and stability analysis
- Provide technical oversight on interconnection studies and grid integration for renewable energy projects
- Support compliance with industry standards including NERC and FERC requirements
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including project management, operations, and regulatory stakeholders
- Review and approve engineering deliverables, drawings, and technical specifications
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance across projects
- Interface with utilities, ISOs/RTOs, and regulatory bodies as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Master’s preferred)
- 10+ years of experience in power systems engineering
- Professional Engineer (PE) license strongly preferred
- Experience with power system modeling tools (e.g., ETAP, SKM, PSCAD, PowerWorld)
- Strong knowledge of transmission systems, substations, and grid interconnection
- Familiarity with NERC compliance and FERC regulatory frameworks
- Experience working with utilities, developers, or EPC firms
Preferred Experience
- Renewable energy (solar, wind, BESS) project experience
- Interconnection and ISO/RTO market knowledge (PJM, ERCOT, CAISO, MISO, etc.)
- Experience supporting large-scale infrastructure or mission-critical facilities
