Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Two years of coaching, playing or administrative experience in collegiate basketball, or a combination thereof.
  • CPR and NCAA recruiting certification must be attained within six months from date of hire.
  • A valid driver’s license in your state of residence and have had no serious violations (Type A) within the past five (5) years and no more than three (3) moving violations (Type B) in the past three (3) years.

Responsibilities

  • Direct player focus on skill development on the court and with personal growth off the court.
  • Create and implement development plans to address players’ academic and personal growth needs.
  • Assist coaching staff with game day prep, practice plans, and daily basketball operations.
  • Staff liaison with academics, facilities, and admissions.
  • External affairs contact: marketing, multimedia rights, events, ticketing, equipment, and athletics communications.
  • Alumni liaison for newsletters, golf outings, social events and reunions.
  • Oversight of all student interns, managers and volunteers related to men’s basketball.
  • Act as liaison with academic services, oversee study hall and weekly academic reports, and ensure compliance with NCAA/CAA rules.

Monmouth University is seeking applications for a Director of Player Development for the Men's Basketball Team.

The candidate would be expected to: handle programmatic areas such as academics and facilities, as well as campus partners such as admissions; alumni engagement, including but not limited to newsletters, golf outings, social functions and reunions; oversight of all student interns, managers and volunteers related to men's basketball.

This is an in-person, on-campus, non-remote position.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Direct player focus on skill development on the court and with personal growth off the court.
  • Direct, create, and implement individual development plans to ensure players needs are addressed and met as they relate to academics and personal growth.
  • Assist coaching staff with game day preparation, practice plans, as well as day-to-day basketball operations.
  • Staff liaison: Programmatic areas such as academics and facilities, as well as campus partners such as admissions.
  • External affairs contact: Marketing, multimedia rights, special events, ticketing, equipment, athletics communications.
  • Alumni liaison: Responsible for alumni engagement, including but not limited to newsletters, golf outings, social functions and reunions.
  • Oversight: All student interns, managers and volunteers related to men's basketball.
  • Academics: Act as liaison with academic services to oversee daily progress of the student-athletes; oversight of study hall; weekly academic reports. Responsible for adhering to policies and procedures governing the Department of Athletics and the University and any applicable rules and regulations associated with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) or any other conference or organization with which the University is or becomes associated with which affects University Athletics. Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree.
