Job summary

Monmouth University on the West Long Branch campus is seeking two Assistant Coaches for Women’s Rowing to support the Head Coach in all phases of a Division I program, ensuring compliance with NCAA/CAA/University rules. This is an in-person, on-campus position.

Responsibilities include recruiting student-athletes, organizing practice and event planning, academic support, and public relations; CPR and NCAA recruiting certification must be completed within six months.

Qualifications

  • Assist Head Coach in all phases of Division I women's rowing per NCAA/CAA/Monmouth rules.
  • Organize identification and recruitment of prospective student-athletes; support academics and training.
  • Perform communication and public relations responsibilities.
  • Create summer programs and assist with community service activities.
  • Adhere to policies and procedures of Athletics and University under NCAA/CAA.
  • CPR and NCAA recruiting certification must be attained within six months from hire.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends; travel as necessary.
  • Valid driver’s license with clean record within past years.

Description

Monmouth University is seeking applications for two Assistant Coaches, Women’s Rowing in the Athletics department. The candidates would be expected to: assist the Head Coach in administering all phases of a competitive Division I intercollegiate women’s rowing program in compliance with all NCAA, Coastal Athletic Association and Monmouth University rules and regulations.

This is an in-person, on-campus, non-remote position.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist Head Coach in administering all phases of a competitive Division I intercollegiate women’s rowing program in compliance with all NCAA, Coastal Athletic Association and Monmouth University rules and regulations.
  • Organize the successful identification and recruitment of prospective student-athletes, academic support, skill instruction, including practice, training and event planning and execution, and primary supervision of the program.
  • Perform communication and public relations responsibilities.
  • Create summer programs and assist with community service activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Responsible for adhering to policies and procedures governing the Department of Athletics and the University and any applicable rules and regulations associated with the National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA), the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) or any other conference or organization with which the University is or becomes associated with which affects University Athletics.
  • Prior coaching experience.
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
  • CPR and NCAA recruiting certification must be attained within six months from date of hire.
  • Ability to work evening and weekend hours and travel as necessary.
  • Must have an understanding of the University’s concern for academics as well as athletic excellence.
  • A valid driver’s license in your state of residence and have had no serious violations (Type A) within the past five (5) years and no more than three (3) moving violations (Type B) in the past three (3) years. University Policy found here:Monmouth University Vehicle Use Policy .
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
  • Must be able to treat confidential and sensitive information appropriately.
  • Must be able to operate a variety of office equipment.
  • Basic Knowledge of MS Word and Excel 2016

Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience coaching at the NCAA Division I level or proven successful high school, club, collegiate or elite rowing coaching experience.
  • Previous trailer driving experience is a plus.
  • Previous experience recruiting at the collegiate level.
