About the Position:
This role is an on-campus, in-person position.
The Director of Pharmacy leads pharmaceutical services at the student health center, ensuring high-quality care in collaboration with clinic providers. This role oversees medication dispensing, patient education, inventory management, and pharmacy operations while supervising staff and maintaining regulatory compliance. The Director is committed to exceptional customer service, revenue goals, and enhancing services to meet student needs.
Essential Functions:
Qualifications
Education and Experience: A Bachelor’s of Science in Pharmacy from an ACPE accredited school is required. A Doctor of Pharmacy degree is preferred. Seven (7) years of experience as a licensed pharmacist and ability to assume administrative responsibilities for the Pharmacy is required; two (2) years of experience in a managerial or supervisory role in pharmacy is also required. A current Texas pharmacy license in good standing is required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Candidate must demonstrate strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate broadly across the University and develop and maintain effective relationships with a wide range of constituencies. Must also demonstrate strong written communication skills. Candidate must possess strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and analyze problems, as well as devise solutions. Must also have strong organizational, planning and time management skills. Candidate knowledge of local, state, and federal regulatory requirements is required. Candidate ability to work well with patients, pharmacists, physicians and other co-workers is essential. Candidate must possess the ability to work well with SMU colleagues, clients and external organizations. Candidate must be courteous, pleasant and provide service in a professional manner. Candidate working knowledge of effective inventory system is preferred. Candidate must be BLS (Basic Life Support) certified. Immunization certified is preferred. Candidate familiarity with pharmacy management software is required. Knowledge of QS/1 software system is preferred.
