Job Overview

Responsible for providing pharmaceutical care at West Virginia University Hospitals through direct patient care, operational, educational, and administrative activities. The role also involves leadership within the pharmacy profession.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Education, Certification, and Licensure:
  • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) from an ACPE-accredited school.
  • Current and unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in West Virginia or license eligibility, with licensure obtained within 90 days of hire.
  • Basic Life Support certification within 60 days of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Pharm.D. from an ACPE-accredited school.
  • Experience with PGY-2 or PGY-1 residencies, board certification, or relevant pharmacist experience.
Core Duties and Responsibilities

  • Monitoring drug therapy and participating in medical rounds.

  • Assisting with admission, discharge planning, and patient education.

Additional Job Details

This full-time Clinical Pharmacist Specialist position covers adult inpatient cardiology services, including general cardiology, heart failure, cardiovascular surgery, and CVICU. Schedule is day shifts with some weekends and holidays. Responsibilities include order verification, drug information, medication management, pharmacokinetics, patient counseling, and operational coordination. Non-clinical duties include precepting, committee involvement, and research/quality projects. The specialist will also be part of the adult Code Blue team.
